Does Michelle Williams look this good too? (Photo by Erik Kabik | Retna)

Former Destiny’s Child singer (non-Beyonce division) Kelly Rowland hit up Surrender Sunday night to do a 15-minute set around 1:30 a.m., with “Commander,” “When Love Takes Over” and “Like This.” She spent longer talking to Kaskade, who was there for the show, than she did on stage — but she looked really good doing it. Seriously, we don’t know what kind of crazy routine Beyonce’s dad had those girls on, but whatever it is stuck with Rowland. She took off from the joint shortly before 3 a.m.

Across the way, Keri Hilson was doing a three-song set of her own at Blush at the same time, with “Turning Me On,” “Knock You Down” and “The Way We Are.” She also threw in an a cappella rendition of one of her new ones, and also took off around 3 a.m. Apparently there was some kind of late-night diva conference everyone had to get to.

Over at Studio 54, Taylor Dayne stopped in to do “Beautiful,” “Tell it to My Heart,” “Love Will Lead You Back,” and, the new one, “Facing a Miracle.” Nice to see that even in a four-song show, artists still give their crowd the chance to go use the bathroom. It’s thoughtful.

Somewhere along the way during an extra-long weekend, we've gotten a cold. And it's not one of your piddly little nasal dribbles with a touch of malaise either. This is a full-on, four alarm, holy o'shit Captain Trips supercold.

Somewhere along the way during an extra-long weekend, we’ve gotten a cold. And it’s not one of your piddly little nasal dribbles with a touch of malaise either. This is a full-on, four alarm, holy o’shit Captain Trips supercold.

Or, maybe it’s just our first one of the season and we have no perspective. Either way, we’ve rounded up the best cold remedy cocktail recipes Google could find, so you don’t have to go through what we’re dealing with right now.

Check ‘em out after the jump.

Hot T&T: Everybody recommends the Hot Toddy, but how can you go wrong with delicious warm tea and a shot of tequila? Call it two shots and scare the germs right out of your body!

Boil some water, then carefully pour the water into a large tea or coffee mug. Add the chosen tea bag, add one shot of your favorite Tequila(I prefer Milagro), squeeze in half of a lime, and add two teaspoons of honey to sweeten, then stir well and enjoy.

via Associated Content

C-Creature: Check out this whole list of cold-battling cocktail combos, some of which contain over the counter cold medicines. Most of them don’t have a full recipe, but we’re sure you’ll be able to come up with something.

In Walnut Creek, Calif., the Spoontonic Lounge makes Emergen-C cocktails by request. The C-creature is a combination of Absolute Mandarin, a packet of Emergen-C (citrus flavor), soda water, fresh orange wedge and a splash of OJ. Add a shot of vodka to the Emergen-C and you’ve got yourself a B-12 Bomber.

via LemonDrop

Spicy Hot Toddy:There’s a reason the Hot Toddy is a classic, and this variation is just what the doctor ordered (probably). Click through to the full story for the recipe and instructions.

Fill a tea pot with hot water, add freshly squeezed lemon juice, a shot of Buffalo Trace bourbon (or your favorite brown stuff) and sweeten the mix with a Jalapeño simple syrup.

via Food Woolf

We’ll get on some of these and hopefully we’ll be right as rain soon – and our cold will be gone too!

Teach me how to Raiden.

We'll come out and say it - we know something about hangovers. We'll also say we've tried a few different pre-boozing hangover remedies in our time, including PreToxx .

We’ll come out and say it – we know something about hangovers. We’ll also say we’ve tried a few different pre-boozing hangover remedies in our time, including PreToxx.

When we tried it last time we found PreToxx did a pretty good job of staving off the most vicious aspects of a hangover (headache, nausea) by master blasting our systems with vitamins and good stuff to fight off the bad stuff. As an added bonus, it didn’t give us the green apple splatters (look it up) like a certain other brand did.

But the folks at PreToxx aren’t resting on their laurels – they’ve updated the formula and dropped the price, and sent us a fresh new bottle. So, we decided to do what we do best – test drive a few of the pills and pour some drinks on them. Like right now. Here’s hoping that new prickly pear and a whole lot of vitamins B and C can help stave off the effects of what we plan to do to ourselves tonight. We’ll keep you posted.

PreToxx (available at Amazon for $15/60 pills)

EDIT: We got curious about what prickly pear might do for us, and according to WebMD it can help reduce the nausea and dry mouth associated with drinking, but not the headache. Thanks, science!

Let us say that again, slowly – whisky…made from the urine…of old people. And before you ask, no they’re not selling it, but the linked story has details on how you can try it if you want to hop on a plane to London.

Here are some more details from the story over at WIRED.co.uk:

The source material is acquired from elderly volunteers, including Gilpin’s own grandmother, Patricia. The urine is purified in the same way as mains water is purified, with the sugar molecules removed and added to the mash stock to accelerate the whisky’s fermentation process. Traditionally, that sugar would be made from the starches in the mash.

Once fermented into a clear alcohol spirit, whisky blends are added to give colour, taste and viscosity, and the product is bottled with the name and age of the contributor.

Thanks for the link, Tool Snob – and would you mind peeing in this cup for us before you start that table saw?

Yet somehow, it gets better if you go upstairs. (Photo by Hew Burney | HewmanBeing.com)

It’s towering, massive and pink. It’s the Vagopolis: The new Hustler Club at 5969 Dean Martin is more than 70,000 square feet in total, which puts it in the same neighborhood as Sapphire in terms of sheer size. Unlike its cousin up the road, though, Hustler is stacked vertically instead of spread out horizontally. Insert your own stripper joke there wherever you’d like. The club is also in its soft opening period until Sept. 10, so go ahead and make it a two-fer.

Because of that, though, we were a little surprised Sunday night when we went to check out Hustler’s first industry night. The first floor was smaller than we’d anticipated based on the size of the building, but with twin main stages it makes for an intimate experience. You’re never too far from the goods. Sight lines are a criminally neglected area of strip club design. Of course, so is rooftop action, and they have that here, too.

VIP areas are tiered on either side of the main floor, and tables surround the stages — one of which bears the unfortunate moniker “The Beaver Stage.” Likewise, the club’s mascot is a gold-toothed and top-hatted castor canadensis and you can use your credit card to buy “Beaver Bucks,” which can be used in lieu of cash if you aren’t happy with the methods currently at your disposal to abuse the plastic at gentlemen’s establishments. Still, the choice of nomenclature is cringe-inducing. We’re already at a strip club, fellas. No need to make it less subtle.

Upstairs is where the club shines. A lucite catwalk — to match all the heels — snakes through the second floor while VIP skyboxes overlook the action on both stories. Even better, the cocktail servers take the downstairs attire — a black and silver corset with silver sequined booty shorts — to a logical conclusion we’re surprised we’ve never seen anywhere else. They wear black and gold underbust corsets with gold pasties, for a more, ah, free-swinging experience.

Polecraft seemed to be at a premium, with the main pole going from the first-floor stage all the way up to the second-floor rafters. Like a majestic, stripping Batman, we saw one girl hop the catwalk on the second floor and work her way down to the stage.

They’re bringing in Tila Tequila Sept. 4, and coming right back with Angelina Pivarnick, the second-least likable broad on Jersey Shore (after the risable Sammi), Sept. 5. But at least that weekend there’ll be a few other girls there you’d actually want to see topless.
