DAILY SIP: ALOHA KISS

Tonight, the Stirling Club is holding Kiss My Palate, a charity event to benefit Project Shero, which specializes in projects to build kids’ –especially girls’ — self-esteem. And what better way to get the l’il shavers on their way in life than by bringing a specialty cocktail into the mix?

The Aloha Kiss combines equal parts Johnny Love Aloha vodka with pineapple juice, a splash of orange juice and a squeeze of lime. Shake it and strain it into a cocktail glass for a pale, almost milky tropical blend that doesn’t skimp on the citrus.

Taken by itself, the Aloha vodka is a pineapple/coconut infusion that has a little of the sweetness typical to coconut-flavored drinks, and is really pretty solid on its own. When you start adding fruit juice to the mix, it’s a citrus explosion. You can really feel out the pineapple and the OJ each in their way, but the light sweetness from the vodka provides balance. We liked ours a little heavier on the Aloha than pineapple to bring out a nice vodka burn at the end.

The event tonight is from 6 to 9 p.m. and includes a celebrity cook-off and a Mayor Goodman kick-off for $100 at the door. Just don’t tell him the Aloha Kiss doesn’t have any gin in it.
